When it comes to Maranges, one must mention the Chevrot winery, known for its “top-performing estate.”
The 1988 elevation of Maranges to an AOC region was largely due to Chevrot, which is recognized as the leader of Maranges and serves as the president of the association.
It is the only Maranges AOC winery featured in the book “Inside Burgundy.” The estate currently has about 20 hectares of vineyards, with an average vine age of over 30 years, and some vines nearing 80 years old.
